The highly anticipated sequel to the Rajinikanth starrer Jailer is officially in the works! On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the makers unveiled an announcement video to excite fans.
The video, which was simultaneously screened in theaters across the country, features director Nelson Dilipkumar and music composer Anirudh Ravichander. Set against the backdrop of a beach house in Goa, the dynamic duo is seen enjoying a relaxed moment while engaging in playful banter about their upcoming project. Their signature light-hearted camaraderie hints at another thrilling chapter for fans to look forward to.
There is a lighthearted reference to Anirudh’s never-ending run of releases and Nelson’s seeming sabbatical, as he hasn’t produced a movie since “five cyclones.” The mood abruptly changes as they choose to take a more potent chill pill; windows smash, glass shatters, doors are ripped from their hinges, and henchmen run away in fear as the most recognizable silhouette in Indian cinema enters the picture.
The film was produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, and no other information has been released as of yet. Fans are speculating as to whether additional stars will join this galaxy or if Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff will return in the sequel.
With this declaration, one thing is certain: Rajinikanth will return to one of the most iconic characters of 2023. Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie will be the competition for this second installment. If rumors are to be believed, Coolie will also be a multi-star film with Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Aamir Khan.
